The Dish with DDR: 7 Sites & Shops for Organic Natural Healthy Beauty

The Dish with DDR: 7 Sites & Shops for Organic Natural Healthy Beauty

All-natural and organic beauty products have been increasingly making their way into mainstream stores, like Sephora and Ulta, but I have found that they only seem to carry a few of the more popular brands. There is a vast array of natural beauty brands out there and I want you to know about them and where to find them! So I did the legwork and compiled a list of 7 sites and shops that have done all the research so you don’t have to — and promise to only carry natural, sustainable or organic products from simple to luxury brands

Here, in no particular order, are my favorite shops to peruse, online or in-store.

SPIRIT Beauty Lounge

What I love about SBL is that the site is so easy to navigate and they have beauty experts, like celeb makeup artist Katey Denno, on hand to give you their personal expert picks and advice. SBL pre-screens all of the products they sell using their own evaluation method called the “6P’s.” They look for how well a product performs, the purity of the ingredients in a product, the potency of active ingredients (the higher the better), the provenance of a product and its sources, the principles of the manufacturer should be ethical and responsible, and of course, the packaging of a product can make the world of a difference to a consumer. The packaging must be ZERO-WASTE but also pretty to the naked eye. Some of the fab brands that you can find at SBL are W3LL People, Alima Pure and Tatcha. Spirit Beauty Lounge also offers complimentary U.S. Ground Shipping  when you spend $50.00 or more. Pretty good!

REED CLARKE

This site is neat because it is not only created by one of the most sought after makeup artists in the industry, Fiona Stiles, but she personally curates the retail site herself with products from her own professional makeup kit and personal medicine cabinet. Fiona gives you her favorite tried and tested products and a brief description as to WHY they are indispensable to her. Love it!  Learn about brands like LULU Organics, Koh Gen Do, Mineral Fusion, and Jouer.

SHEN Beauty, Natural Beauty Curated in Brooklyn

Shop from the comfort of your own home or head into the cute store in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn founded by California native Jessica Richards (learn more about how she founded her store here). Shen is known for its undiscovered, organic lines, but you can also find many of the main characters there as well, like popular RMS Beauty and Ilia Beauty. Another great feature of Shen is that if you are in the NYC area you can book a special beauty service right in house. Shen has an aesthetician and makeup artist on call for all of you beautifying needs. One last perk: FREE shipping on all orders! Nice.

Bella Cuore Organic Beauty

If I lived in Michigan there’s no doubt I would be at Bella Cuore more often than I would like to admit, but since I live on the east coast, online shopping will suffice. The name of this retail shop automatically gets me with its Italian origin. Bella Cuore translates to “beautiful heart” in Italian and is meant to remind us that beauty resides within. So true. Beauty comes from nourishing the mind, body and soul. The goal at Bella Cuore is to be your source for 100% toxin-free beauty. Any brand you find on their site or in-store is free of parabens, dyes, chemicals, phthalates, formaldehyde, synthetic fragrances and any other no-good ingredients. BCOB has some great brands from undiscovered gems to more well-known faves such as, Jane Iredale, Koi, and Vapour Organic Beauty. Create a wish list and get rewarded! 10% OFF your first order and you get free, same day expedited shipping! Not too shabby!

The Nature of Beauty

Right from the source itself:

“The home for all of your favorite Organic Beauty Products, The Nature of Beauty is part of the Smart Beauty movement, in which looking beautiful doesn’t have to mean shutting off your brain. I couldn’t have said it better myself. The mission at The Nature of Beauty is relevant and important for people to know and understand. Looking beautiful doesn’t have to mean “shutting off your brain.” Looking beautiful should be a reflection of how you feel on the inside, your character, your intelligence and about what lights you up. CAP Beauty

This is a fun site. I love the colors, font, images… I just really enjoy everything about this site. This site *gets* me. I totally believe in the idea that “BEAUTY IS WELLNESS AND WELLNESS IS BEAUTY.”  I had to write that in all caps to really drive that notion home to you! :) CAP is Clean And Pure. Simple and direct. As a consumer, I want the search for healthy products to be easy. I want to be able to ask questions and get honest answers. I want the retailer to have the same concerns as me. CAP is all about doing the research and the legwork for the consumer. They make it so easy to find the most healthful and effective products in a fun way. And if you’re in the NYC area take a personal CAP beauty day at their spa. Yes, please!

I would love to know about your favorite healthy beauty shops! If you have any, please leave them in the comments below.

Always,

Happy Shopping!
