DIVA DOES… Skincare Morning, Noon & Night

DIVA DOES… Skincare Morning, Noon & Night

Your skin. It goes through a lot over the course of a day. And then that gets repeated. Every single day.

Our friends at Neutrogena shared this infographic at an event I recently attended to underscore why skincare morning and night (and throughout the day too) is so important.

Take a look…

A Day in the Life of Skin

Three things that hit home for me:

  • While sleep is a reparative state, and we all need it for health and beauty, we actually lose water and wake up dehydrated. To start the day, we need moisture replenishment inside and out. (And coffee isn’t going to cut it.)
  • You melt… MELT… the lipids of your skin when you are in water that is 104°F and higher. Think about all those hot showers, hot baths, hot tubs… This damage, according to the experts at Neutrogena, can never be fully repaired. (I’m screwed. #TeamScaldingHot)
  • UV exposure similarly affects skin in a permanent way, meaning that while you can recover from damage, you can never return to your baseline. (Note to self: Add SPF 100 + wide brim hat + UV protective clothing + sun umbrella to Costa Rica packing list.)

Check out the visual (closely) to see how your skin’s moisture balance is affected just by living.

If you’re anything like me, you already thought you were good to your skin – but now you’re vowing to honor and care for it in a whole new and vigilant way.
