The Dish with DDR: Debi Mazar’s No.1 Red Carpet Beauty Secret!

The Dish with DDR: Debi Mazar’s No.1 Red Carpet Beauty Secret!

I got to hit the red carpet recently and get to know some of the women calling the shots throughout the entertainment industry for nearly 40 years. I attended the New York Women in Film and Television 37th annual Muse Awards gala that recognizes and celebrates remarkable achievements of women in film, television and digital media. I got to catch up with honorees Mary- Louise Parker, Golden Globe Award winning and Emmy nominated actress and American actress, Debi Mazar, you may know her for her Jersey-girl type role on the HBO series Entourage and currently starring in Younger on TV Land.

There’s a reason why celebs always look great in photos. They have a glam team guiding them on what poses look the best in front of cameras, perfect makeup and hair, and being genetically blessed doesn’t hurt either! But, when I asked Debi Mazar her top beauty secret to looking great on the red carpet, she had a not so obvious answer: “Be yourself, stand tall, keep your chin up, and just smile.” Debi kept it real and honest. And that is something that never looks bad on anyone. She is so incredibly down to earth that when she divulged since moving back to NYC from LA she’s a frequent subway rider and just wants to “be amongst the people and community.”  Love that!

And how does award winning actress, mom, friend, and the list goes on, Mary-Louise Parker stay balanced?

Although she claims she is “wildly imbalanced,” her energy on the red carpet was calm and her voice was sound. She looked natural and radiant for the 37th annual Muse Awards. Mary tends to maintain a balance in life by doing the contrary, she does it all and at once! Mary Louise keeps up with her hectic life by multi-tasking. She’ll take the dog for a walk while learning her lines or making time to take dance classes with her kids. Her key to success and life in general, is feeling supported and taken care of, not beating herself up if things don’t go exactly how she thinks they should. I think that’s a good tip for women in general, because we do tend to take on a lot and put pressure on ourselves to be these perfect humans. We are too hard on ourselves. Ladies, go easy on yourself and do your best. That is enough!

Attending the New York Women in Film and Television’s 37th annual MUSE Awards was poignant and inspiring. Each of the honorees is doing wonderful things in the entertainment industry and their personal lives. The MUSE awards celebrate scholarship, community, innovation, creativity, education and inclusiveness. These women are perfect examples and deserving of that honor.

Until next year,

Denise
